llenando nuestro corazón de alegría con su belleza.

LOS BAOBABS: LOS GIGANTES DE MADAGASCAR

En una época no estaban solos. Estaban acompañados por otros árboles en el bosque. Pero los humanos talaron todos los árboles y sólo dejaron a los gigantes, porque los consideraban sagrados. Y por esta razón es que se destacan en el paisaje de la savana. 

Son una de las maravillas del mundo botánico.

Lamentablemente, esta es la historia de los Baobabs (Adansonia spp.) de Madagascar (Videos 1-3).

Se nota por donde pasa el hombre (Homo insapiens), un primate inventor de artilugios mecánicos y nucleares, por la destrucción y contaminación que deja en su paso. 

No descansará hasta que deje la Tierra yerma sin vida como su compañera la Luna.

TORMENTA DE GRANIZO AL PIE DE DON CHOPO

Esta fuerte tormenta de granizo con rachas de aire de más de 50 km/h, nos demuestra que el chopo centenario de Jaca puede con todo. Pedimos a los que han decidido su tala que reflexionen sobre el hecho de que Don Chopo ha crecido entre fuertes corrientes de aire y está adaptado a ellas. Don Chopo quiere seguir viviendo y merece que se tenga en cuenta su petición en agradecimiento a todos sus servicios prestados durante el último siglo: ha aportado habitat para muchos insectos, aves migratorias, murcielagos, plantas trepadoras, etc...y sobre todo mucho oxigeno gratuito, belleza y sombra.

The Udege have lived in the Bikin River Valley basin for thousands of years, defending their land despite intense development pressure. The river and the twelve thousand square kilometers of mixed-broadleaf forest that make up its watershed are at the core of Udege spirituality and tradition. The Udege rely on the forest for pine nuts and medicines made from herbs and roots that they supply to the domestic and export market.

But the most commercially valuable products in the Bikin River Valley are the trees themselves. Logging companies have repeatedly tried to lease vast portions of the river basin. The Udege have fiercely resisted the logging companies, aided by partnerships with influential non-governmental groups, and so far have managed to keep loggers out. [Video 1]
